Offensive Woes:
I think the Phillies have lost their bats since battleing against Tim Wakefield and the Boston Red Soxs last weekend. Tim Wakefield almost had a no-hitter against the Phillies lineup. Today, the Phillies are looking to wake up there snoozing bats against the Florida Marlins. The Phillies have been in a slump batting only .266, with no runs against starting pitchers. Phillies have been hitting singles and doubles but not homeruns or with runners in scoring position.
Injuries have also hurt the Phillies:
Carlos Ruiz (C) has a sore right shoulder -- Day to Day
Jimmy Rollins (SS) has a strained right calf (second this year) -- 15 Day DL list
Ryan Madson (BP) has a broken right big toe -- 60 Day DL list
Brad Lidge (CL) has right elbow inflammation -- 15 Day DL list
J.A. Happ (SP) has a Left Forarm Strain -- 15 Day DL list
Jimmy Rollins really sparks this team. As a leadoff hitter it really stings them to lose their leadoff hitter again! The first time he strained his right calf he was out for almost a month.
Carlos Ruiz is really isn't a problem. He dosn't get injuried too much. Carlos is in the lineup for the Phillies tonight.
Ryan Madson is part of the 'pen but he can also be a starting pitcher. That day he kicked his foot againt the chair, it was out of frustration. He pretty much almost blew a save. He was angry so he went back to the dugout and kicked a chair.
JA Happ is a starting pitcher and a young good one. He came 2nd in Rookie of the Year. He went 12-4 last year. He was drafted in the 3rd round of the Amtueur draft in 2004 from Northwestern University. I don't expect him to get injuried too much.
Brad Lidge just is not getting healthy. They want him to get healthy so he can save another perfect season like he did in 2008 when they won the world series.
